There's something lovely about the way German-speakers sing the word "Hallo".
For all the other horrendous noises that the language has produced, this is a wonderfully beautiful one.
I first noted this consciously whenever a female cyclist tried to angrily sing me out of her way as I was nonchalantly ambling along in the cycle lane. Her little bell sounded, and then came a "Ha-llow" - rising and falling in perfect key - and then some comment with "Radl" in it. I like words that include "Radl" also, as they too create pleasant sounds, but I can't remember any of them at the moment.
